Celebration Performance: 50 Years
11 April 2008, London. To celebrate and honour
50 years of being the disciple of Kathak dance master
Pandit Birju Maharaj, Padmashri Guru
Pratap Pawar will take to the stage on 11th April at the Bhavan
Centre in West London for a special evening of performance.
In 1958, Pratap Pawar became Pandit Maharajs very first
shagird; fifty years later, in 2008, he was granted the title of
Padmashri by the President of India one of
Indias most prestigious civilian awards.
In this performance Pratap Pawar will be joined by principal dancers
from his performance troupe, the Triveni Dance Company, and by the following
outstanding musicians:
- Pandit Vishwa Prakash
(Vocals and Harmonium)
- Shri Yogesh Samsi
(Tabla)
- Shri Balujee Shrivastav
(Sitar)
For one evening only!
