Celebration Performance: 50 Years

11 April 2008, London.  To celebrate and honour 50 years of being the disciple of Kathak dance master Pandit Birju Maharaj, Padmashri Guru Pratap Pawar will take to the stage on 11th April at the Bhavan Centre in West London for a special evening of performance.

In 1958, Pratap Pawar became Pandit Maharaj’s very first shagird; fifty years later, in 2008, he was granted the title of ‘Padmashri’ by the President of India — one of India’s most prestigious civilian awards.

In this performance Pratap Pawar will be joined by principal dancers from his performance troupe, the Triveni Dance Company, and by the following outstanding musicians:

    (Vocals and Harmonium)
  • Shri Yogesh Samsi
    (Tabla)
  • Shri Balujee Shrivastav
    (Sitar)
